SOWING TIME - Lotus seeds do not have hibernation,  you can sow on any season. Under the condition of water  and sunlight

HOW TO PLANT:

  • Seed treatment: Lotus seed shell is hard and dense, must be manually scraped before soaking. Be careful not to hurt the embryo.
  • Important: Use sandpaper or a sharp cutter to cut the seeds open as shown below before sowing/immersing in water.

Seed Treatment: We've processed the seed openings for faster germination. (Note: Follow the steps in the picture if any openings are missing.)
Soak Seeds: Soak seeds in fresh water, changing them daily. At the right temperature, seeds should germinate in about a week.
Transplant Seedlings: Once seedlings have roots, transplant them to an outdoor pond or container with at least 2-3 inch/5-8 cm of soil. Place seeds on top and cover lightly. (Since lotus is an aquatic plant, there should always be at least 2-4 inch/5-10 cm of water above the soil.)
Care: If leaves turn yellow or black, trim them and change the water.
Waiting for Bloom: With proper nutrition and sunlight, expect blooms in 2-3 months.
